Yikes.
And good morning,
I was listening to the radio in my car while driving to an appointment. Okay, I admit, I usually listen to talk radio. And what was the topic of conversation? My old alma mater. Two girls had started viciously attacking each other in a classroom, while taking a test. That is, the rest of the classroom was taking a test, these two were at each other’s throats, pulling at each other’s hair and body slamming each other into walls.
Where was the teacher? He was also body slammed into a wall while trying to break up the two girls. It had now become a three party fight while the teacher honestly tried to restore order to his classroom. At some point, a very large male entered the room and he, along with the classroom teacher each managed to hold a girl long enough to stop the fight. I assume that last part about the fight stopping because that is where the video that another student captured on his phone, ends.
Parents are outraged, but frankly, I’d think they would be getting used to it and becoming numb. Like the larger public school districts. Yes, teachers will yell and scream, try to subdue. Expect the offending students to be disciplined in some way, but frankly I doubt that anything will happen to the students. It would be more likely that the teacher will be accused of losing control of his classroom, not respecting the challenging needs of students who grew up socially disadvantaged and last, but worst, end up being accused of inappropriately touching one of the girls while defending himself against her throws and punches.
I’ve seen that all happen. And once again I will lay blame where I (this being my opinion, my truth) think it belongs – squarely on the shoulders of parents, guardians or whoever is charged with raising any child. Public schools will continue to decline until responsibility is taken in the home. And really, right is right and wrong is wrong no matter how wealthy or disadvantaged a person is. Does anyone even know anymore what “morals” are?
Ok then, adios
