Good Morning.
It did not snow. In fact, Dear Friend and I did our 2 mile walk today and it felt more like the middle of April than the middle of winter. I figure we burned extra calories because we had to lug all the winter coats, hats, and mittens that we always wear in the winter. And I still have a headache.
Anyway, I’m always thinking of history. A few months ago I bought a map that I intended to hang in my craft room. It was still rolled up in its tube this morning but I finally took it out. It’s a good sized world map that came with a marker, so I suppose it was meant for children. But, I love maps. This one is sturdy so you can mark and erase on it. My paper maps don’t last long because I look at them so often.
It’s interesting to look at old maps and see how countries borders have changed. Wars were the biggest border changers, I suppose. Countries were ruled by Kings and Queens until they were overthrown, sometimes killed. Whoever took over it was usually because they wanted more land and what ever was being produced in that land. Call it greed. Call it ambition. Call it whatever the heck you want. Just don’t think that the only country doing this was the United States. In fact, they were sort of new to this. But I’ll address that when I’m in the mood to rant.
Right now, I think everyone should try to get along. Yes, mistakes have been made in the history of the world. We are human beings and one of the attributes of humanity is we make mistakes. Learn from them and move on. Don’t repeat them. C’mon Putin, do you really need the Ukraine? Will their lives be better if they return to Russia? What can you give them? Bullets in their backs? Bombs falling on their heads?
All right that’s it. I’m going to go look at my map.
Adios
