It turns out that in an article posted on line by a group called Empower Wisconsin, has explained what the situation is. Follow me on this if possible:
“The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so” reads a document for the “Equitable Math” toolkit. “Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.” Got that? I must add that this article is referring to what is going on in California.
Let’s go on. The proposed section on “equitable math” says “cultural relevance” is “important for learning and also for expanding a collective sense of what mathematical communities look and sound like to reflect California’s diverse history. A focus on equity recognises that mathematics, over the years, has developed in a way that has excluded many students.” What???
Way back in the world a couple of years ago before everything got weird, scholars used to call mathematics a universal language. Now that math is the universal language of white supremacy, I guess all those mathematicians of color, any and all colors, are racist. Yes, maybe even some BLMers. No, I take that back. They couldn’t come up with these foolish recommendations if they were actually what we would call intelligent. Ouch. My bad. However, my truthful story.
Give it a few years. Someday we’ll be watching Jeopardy, and Aaron will read off the clue in the category of math, for $1000. “What is 1 + 1?”
With buzzers in their hands at the ready, the camera man makes his scan of contestants. Finally, someone hits his buzzer. “What is the sum of the IQ of 2 native Californians.” Aaron says, “Correct. Pick another clue.”
