I’ll take capitalism, please, with a side of socialism

So I guess the US is going full out for socialism (I’m assuming Biden will be named president soon). And actually, we’ve been experiencing socialistic polices for years. Teddy Roosevelt, a republican known as a progressive, and his niece and First Lady, Eleanor pushed for policies that would help people overcome obstacles of life, some just for having been born at the wrong time or place. Or the wrong race. Or the wrong gender.

The idea back then, was not only to help out financially, but to make it possible for people to sustain their own livelihoods. (Look up Arthurdale, West Virginia, and why it failed). We can thank them for encouraging Social Security, so people didn’t have to work until they dropped dead to support themselves. The difference with this program is that working people pay into their benefits. I call it a give and take that works.

I think the worst thing we have going for us right now is the public school system which in many areas are failures. It’s socialism at its worse. The government gives you free (for the most part, except for taxpayers haha) education, asks for nothing in return and, even further ruins any hopes of success by taking away teacher authority. Parents, to a large degree aren’t involved either. I think a government who wants to control education is going to make some very startling changes. But first I think they had to take away parental and teacher authority. OOPS sorry, I’m up on my soapbox again.

That’s it. I’m going to take a shower and check for Covid toes.

Life is Joyous!
