One of the comics I read in the morning got me thinking about these Covid times (it’s either Covid or the election, right?). Two squirrels were sitting on a tree branch. A cat was sitting directly below. Suddenly, they show the cat getting hit on the head with acorns from the above squirrels. The caption? ‘Somethings never change.’
So, I started to think about what’s changed during these months of Covid and what’s stayed the same for me. I’ll start with what has stayed the same.
I get up every morning and I still have a cup of coffee and a granola bar while reading the paper. I still do the crossword puzzle and cryptogram while my biggest black cat nuzzles as close to me as possible. (He is my biggest black cat. I have another black cat who is slightly smaller. Neither one of them have any body part that is not black.)
I continue to walk with my two friends (separately and at two different times.) Although maybe this should be in the what has changed category because we’re walking way more often than before Covid.
I still go out to breakfast with my husband and dear friend, and shopping with the other dear friend at small stores and boutiques that are barely hanging on, though not as often. But I haven’t seen my sister in seven months. Her health is fragile.
I just realized that I should probably add another category, “Husband back at work in his office 90 miles away.’
With that said, I still have a cup of tea at 10am and 2pm with a bit of chocolate or a cookie. While my husband was working from home we each had a cup of tea and two cookies at 2pm. None at 10am. I tried to be good as long as I could for his sake.
What’s changed? Come back tomorrow for all the dramatic changes to my life during Covid.
Have a wonderful day!
